The issue ends on a cliffhanger, with Superman and the Authority heading to WarWorld. As he lays on the ground, defeated, the Humanite declares that Kryptonite is “ the greatest lie of all.” Later, Superman gathers the new Authority team for their first mission as he says his goodbye to Lois, he tells her he must leave, especially in light of what he and Supergirl recently discovered about Kryptonite-but he does not clarify. The two fight, trading blows, until Lois zaps the Humanite with a white Kryptonite ray. The Humanite believes he has Superman, but the Man of Steel is able to escape. The issue opens with Superman caught in the clutches of the Ultra-Humanite, one of his oldest foes.
